It’s probably because of All Recipes and Pinterest, but if you’re struggling to keep up with cooking at home, may I very kindly suggest that you scale back your meal rotation to a dozen or less recipes that you know well. IMHO, I think meal planning has gotten WAY too complicated. Don't rescue them from their boredom, rather offer suggestions (like going outside to play or unloading the dishwasher) and then go about your day! Button > Slowly back off screen time while allowing them to get bored. > Worried that you've "messed" your kids up and they're addicted to screens and not able to play on their own? Not true at all! A child's imagination can be rekindled at anytime! (Adult imaginations, too ) > This works for ALL ages, infant to 18!!! > The good news? You don't have anything to lose! You can do an experiment this summer: Box up 90% of your toys (leaving out open ended things like duplos, legos, blocks, magnatiles, a few cars & trucks and a couple of baby dolls > In contrast, kids feel stressed in cluttered spaces and often bounce from one toy to the next, never getting fully engaged > From research, kids thrive in highly simplified spaces where their imagination can run wild > And when my kids are deeply engrossed in play, that is when they seem most content, happy and peaceful > I'm not against toys, it's just that most don't actually encourage imaginative play ![]() ❓”Did you find that you kept more toys when your kids were little to help keep them occupied?”❓ Most often, we end up buying something we don’t need because we truly believe that it will solve a problem in our life or improve it in some way….but it rarely lives up to the hype.Īll of this to say: there’s nothing wrong with you if you’ve fallen victim to these schemes and campaigns! For me it’s Instagram at night, I’m very likely to impulse buy something someone is promoting when it’s later in the day and my emotional energy and will power are gone!
